21/04/09 – Tag 5

Well, as you can see, I am trying to write in english now. See german text below.
Nothing special today (in the beginning), breakfast with Simon and Babs. Babs is leaving to work in the library, me and Simon are walking to Baddens to take some photos. It is raining and the sun is shining brightly…
After Baddens a few steps more to the Victoria Centre to get an overview of Belfast. On top of the Centre there is a big dome made of glass and steel so you have a fine panorama there. Simon has to go back to the hostel and then to the airport, while I am walking in direction of the Botanic Garden. I saw some nice tropical plants there and a closed Ulster Museum. After buying my ticket to Ballymena I return to the hostel to write and wait for the bus.
In the moment I can’t believe that that what I am gonna write now is real… So I am just sitting in the hostel a bit surfing in the internet. Meeting Babs (again), saying goodbye and have-a-good-live (again) and finally departing to the bus station. 19:50 the bus leaves and 20:50 arrives in Ballymena. About ten minutes later Michael arrives and we start to his farm near Newtown-Crommelin.
He is a very kind guy and asked me about my family, what are my parents doing and so on… On his farm he has some sheep and cows. Unfortunately is the lamb time already over, so he will have not a lot of work for me. But I would be very lucky if I can work just a few days. Money should not be the problem, although I didn’t speak with him about that. I have some reserves because the last 4 days I just spent about 100 Sterling for Accomodation, Sightseeing and of course Pub.
Well, while eating some mashed Potatoes and Fish Fingers I tell Michael what i’ve planned to do, about my studies in Germany and so on. He tells me a lot of a guy who worked here before a few months. This young feller lives near Hildesheim (yes, really) and he was phoning (always yelling and shouting) in the evenings for hours and hours till 2am. Of course, on the next day, he is sleeping until 12am. By the way, he was always drinkin‘ a lot of beer and gin.
Just before I write this, we go through the kettles and feed two little sheep without mother. It is a bit weird to see that. Michael grabbed one of them, hold it between his knees and just put a thin tube in its mouth (about 30cm!). Then he pumped about half a litre of milk into this little sheep and let it go. Well, now going to the other sheep and to the cows, just for control and to look if there is a birth is coming tonight. Doesn’t seem so. Tomorrow we meet at 10 o’clock in the morning… good night.

Morgen treffen wir uns also so gegen 10 Uhr. Gute Nacht.
